🚚In the U.S. state of #Washington, a quarter of a billion bees were set loose after a truck carrying beehives overturned. The Whatcom #CountySheriff’s Office reported the incident on social media: “Two hundred fifty million bees are now loose. Avoid the area due to potential bee activity.” Bee experts arrived at the scene alongside #police officers. The road where the truck overturned was closed off. Several #rescue workers were stung while sheriff’s deputies and experienced beekeepers attempted to contain the bees. Experts hope the bees will return to their hives, a process they say could take 24 to 48 hours. The cause of the #truck’s overturning remains unknown.
